Gothic Style Candle Snuffer /Extinguisher also known as a Douter

The original candle snuffer was invented and patented by a chap called Christopher Pinchbeck the Younger  in 1776.

Hand made and “very well made” black wrought iron candle snuffer. It has  a good weight and feel to it.

Measuring approximately 9.75 inches or 24.5cm in length.

Simply place the cone shaped hood of the snuffer over the candle flame to put it out.

By extinguishing a candle this way helps avoid any wax splatters on your furniture and eliminates smoke or certainly to a minimum.
